New York Mets Betting Preview
The Mets played the Washington Nationals in their last series. New York split that one with victories in the first two games 9-7 and 7-2 before a pair of losses. The Mets similarly split the first two games of the Pirates series with results 14-2 (loss) and 5-2 (win). On Sunday New York would power out a 3-2 victory. Sean Manaea came away with 6.0 clean frames, two hits and three walks in the start.
It’ll be Christian Scott in the starter role for the finale Monday. This year in the first six starts of his career Scott is 0-2 with a 4.32 ERA. He’s got 27 Ks in 33.1 innings total.
Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the Pirates’ side, they played the St. Louis Cardinals last week. Pittsburgh only managed one win in that set, a 5-4 result on Wednesday. In Sunday’s game the Pirates would end up blowing a 2-1 lead in the ninth. Starter Luis Ortiz went 6.0 innings with no earned on four hits. Mitch Keller will take the mound for the starter slot Monday. This season so far Keller is 9-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 17 starts. Keller is 34-43 with a 4.51 ERA in 119 games (117 starts) over his career. New York Mets vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Mets. I could probably go either way in this one, though. Scott is coming off a shaky outing versus the Nationals with 5.2 innings and four earned on six hits and two walks. He wasn’t pitching too badly at the end of May, though. As for Keller, he had a shaky loss himself with 5.0 innings and five earned on July 2 versus St. Louis during his last outing.
On Sunday the Mets bagged nine team hits as the offense finally got going in the late innings. (Francisco Lindor did most of the work though, with three hits, two RBI and a run.) Monday’s finale will likely be another close one.
