Critics Consensus

Bracingly intense, passionate, and wildly melodramatic, Black Swan glides on Darren Aronofsky's bold direction -- and a bravura performance from Natalie Portman.

Lila D So I finally watched this film. I had heard many good things about it, and I sincerely wonder what movie those people watched. This movie was slow and it's point rather muddled. Though Natalie Portman was excellent in the role, she was the only good thing about the film. The story line was hard to follow, since no reason for her decent into madness was ever really explained. And the ending made absolutely no sense, is she dead? Was it all in her head? This movie was trash and I feel bad for Ms. Portman's hard work wasted ln such a pile. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/17/24 Full Review Shioka O There is some weirdness toward the end, but it's a well-made character study film. Applause for Portman and all the actors. Perfect casting. Best choice when you need stressful and disturbing one. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Dani G Great performance by Natalie. Great job by Aronofsky, very much in its style of growing weirdeness the more we approach the end. Also, we've got to see three of the most beautiful and natural faces of Hollywood (Portman, Kunis & Ryder) Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/24 Full Review Emma C This movie was good if you want to feel the emotions. I just watched it and I’m literally crying because of the end when she says “I felt it. It was perfect” or something like that. I had some trouble figuring out what was going all tho, it didn’t make much sense. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Yuki O 官能的でありつつしかし女性の内面が徐々に変化していく様を白鳥の湖の善悪の対比と上手く結びつけて表現しており、さらにナタリーポートマンの演技は圧巻だった。素晴らしい映画だったと思う。ただ親と一緒には観れないかも😅 Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review To F Que buena película enserió!
